The 400CV is a great BBQ and in some ways better than the Cadac. Yes we said it! For instance the lid has an in-built thermometer which allows you to set your cooking temperature accurately. The piezo ignition worked flawlessly on our test unit, and we liked the convenience of the gas can being underneath the BBQ rather than to the side (which is also available on the high pressure version of the Cadac). Plus, I’ve included details of some little known adaptors that will allow you to use any gas cylinder on your camping stove and three stoves that will take more than type of canister.

Propane works when it gets cold. Unfortunately for Butane, the gas condenses when it gets cold and won't flow (no early morning brew!). So, if you are planning on any winter camping, propane gas is the only way to go. But if propane works all year round, why bother with butane? The Campingaz cylinders have a very simple connection, where you can screw the cylinder and regulator together.There are only a few manufacturers of [screw thread] canisters world wide, and they manufacture all the different brands. So two different brands often come off the same production line in Korea. In use, a thermostatic temperature controller is plugged into the edge of the hotplate and we like the safety aspect of this – without the hotplate properly fitted in place, there is no way of connecting the controller. A dome lid is also provided which can cover the food and allow temperatures of >200°C to be reached. It looks the business too!
