About this deal
Ensure that the entire side of the ball is shiny. This includes all of the leather right up to the seam. Jimmy Anderson believes there’s a very easy way to learn how to do this, and it doesn’t involve changing your wrist position at all, it just requires you to change how you release the ball… Outswing

For Jimmy’s outswinger, he will hold the ball in the outswing grip, run up and go through his delivery stride as normal. However, when the ball is about to leave the hand, he will ensure the last finger that touches the ball is his index finger. With the last bit of momentum being applied to the ball by this finger, this causes the seam to rotate in the direction of first slip, making it more likely to swing away from the batsman. Inswing Outswinger: An outswinger to a right-handed batsman can be bowled by aligning the seam slightly to the left towards the slips and placing the roughened side of the ball on the left. To extract consistent swing, a bowler can also rotate his wrist toward the slips while keeping his arm straight. To a right-handed batsman, this results in the ball moving away to the off side while in flight, usually outwards from his body. Malcolm Marshall, Richard Hadlee, Dominic Cork, Courtney Walsh and Dale Steyn have been great exponents of the outswingers.
Nobel prize-winning psychologist Daniel Kahneman and his colleague Amos Tversky showed that the way people think about probability and come to judgements based on evidence is subject to biases that make us rather poor intuitive scientists. Examples such as Massie’s test match are vivid and memorable. The most obvious of these is that if a bowler believes that overcast conditions are conducive to swing, then they will make sure to bowl so as to impart maximum swing when those conditions prevail. In fact this is exactly what Bob Massie said in a radio interview after his spectacular 1972 performance at Lords:

Watch this fascinating video to learn more about how to bowl an in-swinger by properly gripping the ball: One of the more important factors behind your ability to swing the ball is the grip that you use. The way you grip the ball should be different depending on whether you are trying to bowl outswing or inswing. Let’s examine the two different grips in detail… Outswing Grip (To a Right Handed Batsman) Inswinger: An inswinger to a right-handed batsman can be bowled by aligning the seam slightly to the right and placing the roughened side of the ball on the right. To extract consistent swing, a bowler can also rotate or "open up" his wrist towards leg slip. To a right-handed batsman, this results in the ball moving in to the leg side while in flight, usually inwards towards his body.
